Sweet Ayvalik

Do you love sea and old small towns? I do :)

Last week i spent near small Ayvalik town and also visited the Cunda island. Today i want to share with you my impression.

In Ayvalik region a lot of small summer villages where people live only in summer time. The region also very famous with its olive oils and olives itself. When you look around there you can see millions olive trees. Taste of olives is good there because of oxigen. Very high level of oxigen there because of wind which brings oxigen from Ida (Kaz) Mount.

Mostly local people come there for rest and holiday. Foreigners are very less and usually they are greek people (there are direct ships to Greece - Lesvos Island). In general foreigners there are relatives of turkish people or turkish people who live abroad now.

Place is very beautiful. Sea is very clean and it's colour is soooooo turquoise, but temperature is not so high: normally it is between 20 and 24C. It is almost always windy there so a lot of wind-surfers love to come to the sea-side. The Aegean sea ia a paradise for wind surfers. Alacati is the best place for surfers-beginners.

Ayvalik itself is a small old city with narrow streets and stone houses. Every Thursday they organize very big bazar in the city. You can find everything there: hand-made crafts, spices, fresh fruts and vegetables, dresses from local fabrics. It seems you can find everything there :)

I always drink limonad in Ayvalik. It is really very delicious and really fresh and made from real lemons.

Also Ayvalik is famous with its tost: the Ayvalik tost. Inside of two crispy pieces of brad are sosis, chees, solty cucamber, ketchup and mayonnase. Very delicious. Even if you are keeping diet try it once. There are alot of small cafe just at the sea side where you can try tost and limonad and also different types of fishes.
